SUMMERTIME!!!!!!

Well, well.....it's been a little while since I posted a new blog and summer is nearly over!!!!  Life gets so crazy busy in the summer that by the time you take a minute, it's nearly gone.

What have I done this summer????  I've worked!!!   But in between working and going to classes, here are some of the awesome things I've experienced!

Kelleys Island...one of the most beautiful Lake Erie Islands!
If you go there, you must rent a golf cart and visit the winery for wine, pizza, and horseshoes!!!!

Little Italy's Feast of the Assumption
Dear God, do not try to do this in the heat of the day....all that heavy food may kill you!!!!  Instead, opt to go in the evening when things are cooler and more lively.....
the party's not over until the fat lady sings OR you see two guido's fighting over a cannoli....

My most favorite place in Little Italy is the famed Presti's Bakery.....

Do you see what I mean?!?!?!!   You must try to cannoli's and the chocolate macroons....divine!!!!

When I'm not hob-nobbing with the saints and sinners in Little Italy, I chill out at Crocker Park

shopping, food, outdoor seating areas....SHOPPING!!!!!
Yes, you know I gotta shop.

So that's the short list.....more later!!!!!

Open Toe Season!!!!!!

So here we are.....Memorial Day!!!! The official start of summer!!!! And the official start of open toe season! The first thing that should be on your list is a PEDICURE! Back in the day, pedicures were for people who had the luxury to spend the money on getting their toes done but now, with a nail shop on every corner, pedicures are affordable and a necessity! Once you've had one, you know you can never do your own toes again!

I work at Tower City so one of the places I get a pedicure is Fashion Nails, located on the lower level by Dunkin Donuts. Ask for Frank, he's funny and very good! I would call ahead though as it is ususally pretty busy and it is a small shop. Another fantastic places is Les Amis Salon and Spa  (http://www.lesamissalonspa.com)on/ the 3rd level....and they do everything from nails to massages!

After you've prettied up your tootsies, you gotta get them into some shoes that are going to show them off! OPEN TOES!!!! (cue "Open Toes" by Katherine McPhee)

Downtown you have to check out Sugar Footwear located at 1415 W 9th Street, owned by Josetta Balford (who graduated from Virginia Marti College of Art and Design, my alma mater). Sugar carries everything from high end to moderate prices so there's no excuse to not support this local business!!!!!

Nordstrom Rack at Legacy Village carries all the styles you find at Nordstroms but at a fraction of the price....and they always have something different, so go frequently!!!!!  (http://www.legacy-village.com/WhatsNew/2008/10/2/NordstromRackNowOpen.html)

My personal favorite is Nine West (http://www.ninewest.com/) at Beachwood Place. There used to be one at Tower City but it closed (sob). Good construction, style, and comfortable shoes make them my favorite!

Steve Madden and Aldo also have great shoes and you can find them on the Eastside and the Westside!

If you are about giving your arch a rest, pick up a really comfortable pair of Haviannas at Nordstroms (or online)....they are super cute and wear really well! I am also partial to American Eagle flip flops and my favorite $5 dolla holla! Old Navy !!!  (http://www.oldnavy.com/)

Whatever your choice.....don't jam those toes in and suffocate them! Get them done, show them off! Free your feet!

Freezing Fashions......Cleveland Style

Cleveland, pictured here on the glorious shores of Lake Erie, is freezing this time of year.  The snow, the slush, and the near freezing temperatures does not make for good fashion!  Fashionistas in my neck of the woods should have a fabulous winter coat and, if you can find them, styish shoes with some tread!

It's March 1st, and we've had an enormous amount of snow.  Hopefully with the new month, we will start to see warmer weather and less layers.  Spring will be here (we think) in about 20 days and I, for one, am planning some brighter, lighter outfits to pair with open-toe shoes!  It's been months since my toes have seen sunlight so without a doubt I will need a pedicure!

A favorite place of mine to slough and shine my tootsies is Naillusions Nail Salon4488 Warner Rd Cleveland, OH (South Broadway), which also won second place of Cleveland's Hot List!!!
They have a clean salon and great manicurists and pedicurists!

Now that you have your feet looking safe for public viewing, you should be thinking about updating your winter look!  Highlights or overal hair color make you look like you just got back from vacation....unless you are lucky enough to go on vacation, in which case please excuse me while I hate on you for a minute....okay, I'm good now.

For new color, I like to check into Color By Numbers, a color salon on the westside of Lakewood.  They can usually fit you in on short notice and they are not afraid to try new color combinations that others won't touch.

So you are looking fresh for Spring....now what?!  You gotta go show it off!  Grab a couple girlfriends and head to the Chocolate Bar!  What girl doesn't love chocolate and the nice thing about this is that no matter the weather, they have things that will boost your mood and warm your spirit!
May I suggest the Naughty Boy Scout which is a chocolate thin mint concoction....or the creme brulee martini.......and pair that with the chocolate raspberry brioche dessert...and the food isn't bad either.
for more information or to arrange your get together!

So that's today's fashion tips to staying fabulous in this terrible climate!
And now for your entertainment, please enjoy the new trailer for the Sex and the City 2 movie which will grace the big screen in May!!!!!  It should be warm then...get your maxi dresses ready!
